Chinese New Year transport
Chinese New Year transport, also called for "Spring transport", is a name specified for the extrem heavy transport load in the period from 15 days before Chinese New Year to 25 days after Chinese New Year. In the past over 30 years, people in China traveled during the period increased from 100 million times in 1979 to 3700 millions in 2015. This phenomenon appears after China started the economic reformation in 1978. Since 1978 many Chinese leave their hometowns and work in different regions of China. Most of these people come back to their hometowns to celebrate Chinese New Year with their own families or their parents. During the period from 15 days before Chinese New Year to 25 days after Chinese New Year, trains, planes, buses, boats, etc. have to increase much their transportation services. Tickets for traveling in the period are saled since about three monthes before Spring transport starts,
and many people have to stand in queue over night to buy a ticket. The websites saling tickets can often experience problems because of overloads.
Chinese value highly strong family bond and filial piety. Family reunion and visiting parent at Chinese New Year are Chinese traditions which have been conserved for several thousands of years. Although Spring transport causes heavy transportation load, it increases also the
festive atmosphere of the festival.
