田家元日
唐 孟浩然
昨夜斗北回,今朝岁东起。
我年已强壮,无禄尚忧农。
桑野就耕父,荷锄随牧童。
田家占气候,共说此年丰。

Farmers' New Year Day
Poet: Meng Haoran of Tang dynasty
Yesterday night the Plough turned to the north, today Chinese New Year raised from the east.
I am already middle-aged, and I worry about the agriculture although I am not an official.
I come to the farmers in the mulberry field, and I take a hoe and follow the shepherd boys.
The farmers predict about the weather, and say it is an abundant year.
The poet attended a field work on the Chinese New Year Day. It was a fine day. There were both adult and children in the field. The experienced farmers predicted that it would be a good agriculture year according to the weather in the Chinese New Year Day. It is a happy Chinese New Year poem, although the poet didn't directly mention the happy atmosphere in the mulberry field.
