Translation
Chinese New Year Day: The spring in the Jade Mansion
Poet: Mao Tuo of Song dynasty

The old year has dropped away in the lotus funnel (a kind of time meter made of copper),
The Tusu is being cooled in the well.
The coldness in the early morning is still hard,
But the spring has arrived to the slim willow branches.
The beautiful kabukis propose more drink and wish me longevity,
Their cuffs have the aromatic smells of the cedar leaves and zhanthoxylum bungeanum flowers.
In the deep drunk dream I know few, but the Spring God is my old friend.

The morning of the Chinese New Year Day was still cold, but the willow branches were already green. The poet drank whole night with beautiful kabukis. The Tusu wine for the Chinese New Year Day had been prepared. The poet was drunk and sleepy. He wanted to meet spring wind in his dream. It is a cozy Chinese New Year poem.
