Why is Chinese New Year Day on different time from other New Year Days? Chinese New Year day is on the first day of each lunar year. In the world, there are only four countries using the same lunar calendar of Chinese.

A Chinese lunar year has ususally 360 days. The lunar calendar is made based on the revolution of Moon around Earth. Ancient Chinese found also that it took about 365 days for Earth revoluting around Sun. To coordinate the two movements into a same calendar, ancient Chinese created the concept "leap year". Chinese set the years after every two or three lunar years as leap years. In a leap year, there are 13 monthes, and total 19 days more than an usual year.

Many nations have their own calendars. The calendars are made based on their own astronomy, customs and traditions, therefore some of the calendars are very different from either Chinese lunar calendar or Gorge calendar, the international calendar of nowadays. In Iran, the New Year Day is the day of spring equinox; in Pakinstan and Bangladish, the New Year Day is in the middle of March of Gorge calendar; In Cambodia, Nepal and Bhutan the New Year Day is on May of Buddhism calendar; In Thailand, the New Year Day is on the 13-15th of May of Gorge calendar, and is the festival for praying for rain; In Egypt, the New Year Day is on the summer solstice. In Etopia, the New Year Day is on the 11th of August, when the rain season is finishing soon, of Gorge calendar. In countryside of Syria, the New Year Day is on the first full moon day of September of Gorge calendar; In Isrel, the New Year Day is the autumn equinox; In Buma,  the New Year Day is the day of Caiduo festival, which lies in September of Gorge calendar.

Many minorities in China have also their own calendars and New Year Days, for example, Tibetan have Zang calendar, which is also a lunar calendar. Their New Year Day is on the day of winter solstice. Yi-minority created their own calendar in about 200 year B.C. The calendar is a solar canlendar. In the calendar there are only 10 monthes in a year, and 36 days every month. The New Year Day is the 5th or 6th day after October of each year. The five or six days right after October are not counted into a year.

Gorge calendar is a solar calendar, which is made basing on the revolution of Earth around Sun. The calendar is made from the ancient Egypt calendar by Romanene and spread with Roma and Christianity.
