《癸已除夕偶成》
(清)黄景仁
千家笑语漏迟迟,忧患潜从物外知,
悄立市桥人不识,一星如月看多时。
Translation
The poem made accidently on Chinese New Year's Eve of Guiyi year
(Qing dynasty) Huang Jinren
Thousands of families spend their times with laugh and happy talking,
I feel the worry hiding behind the thingsworld around.
I stand quietly on a bridge in the city and nobody knows me,
I watch a star for a long time like it is Moon.
The poem was written in Kang Xi period, which was one of the most thriving periods in ancient China. The poet described that he worried about the thriving and peaceful homeland. "think about danger when man is safe" is a Chinese traditional philosophic thinking, which the poet just expressed in the poem.
